10 Fashion Faux Pas for Cars

I thought this was an interesting article.
10 Worst Automotive Fads - MSN Autos
Someone in the MSN forums had mention what the article writer should have included in his list: Trash can, loud sounding mufflers and "whale tail" fiberglass spoilers that serve no purpose whatsoever. I didn't know there were carbon fiber decals (you put them on the hood of your car to make it look like it is carbon fiber)!? That's about as low as you can go in the ricer world. Your take?

I can think of three extra. Stuipidly big wheels, unnecesary gizmos, and evergrowing cars.

I like real carbon fiber and real hood scoops.

I will leave the newer stuff to our resident grumpy young man, but how the hell could they forget "folded paper"? I view that and the boxy trend it spawned as the peak of styling laziness and extreme aesthetic unpleasantness in cars.

EDIT: I take back what I said earlier. I hate the modern trend towards high beltlines and how almost every car slopes upwards towards the back (not coke-bottle styling, I am talking about one uninterrupted sloped line.).

What about neon lights glowing from underneath? (or where I come from; sellotaped christmas fairy lights) They're terrible, almost on a par with rear-seat engulfing subwoofers.

Well the under neons can be attributed to tacky owners, I don't think any cars come with those stock, mainly because they're illegal most places. :P

I'm also not a fan of the new Audi behemoth grill, nor the window on the ZR1 though I love every other part of that car.

Turbo gauges on a '93 Civic that may or may not actually have a turbo...

EDIT: Oh, and performance stickers galore on a car that can't do 0-60 in under 9 seconds or beat a stock Mustang GT.

Albert implicitly did in post#2, and he (and you) are absolutely right. The same goes for the comment regarding the raised waistline and a number of other megalomanic aspects of motorcars today.

I wonder how cars would actually be if the industry was run by car enthusiasts.
