GTR Spec V 1/4 mile time!!

i just read the article on the Spec V in Road and Track and they claim it ran the quarter in 11.3. i dont see how this is possible especially since the new launch control only launches at 3000 rpm, not 4500. i mean this type of acceleration puts it right near 430 Scuderia territory, a car with more power that is lighter and has a launch control system that ferrari has been honing in its road cars since the Enzo came out in 03. this just makes no sense to me.

-I thought the blacks in Baltimore were bad, shit, they’re nothing compared to these fags you got here in San Francisco…haha.

one very simple word .... TORQUE.

The SpecV looks to be about about 25% more than the 430 Scud.
and it's peak is at 3200 rpm .... so the launch control is right on the button !

Torque provides the acceleration, power the top speed

You may or may not understand, but a lot of people want to track their cars and know what time they run. They value straight line speed and see it as part of the overall driving experience and this 11.3 is pretty damn fast and will be a lure for people that want to track their car.

Haha, while I appreciate your sentiment...
The GTR's time is majorly impressive, and I'd still have a GTR over a ZR1.

I'd have neither, but it is a very good time. I believe it's realistic.

Not really. You can engage LC in newer cars with VDC on.

The GT-R's DCT helps too. Unlike in the Scuderia's system, torque is still being transmitted to the wheels during shifts.

By no accident, Ferrari has a DCT in the California. Tests in both the US and Italy are showing it to be much faster than something like an Audi R8, a car with a slightly better power to weight ratio.

the other day on a drag strip a sky line VS RS6 both on road tires

    GTR 12.5 12.2
    RS6 12.1 12.1

still that GTR in my opinion is over rated & i would have ZR1 anyday

I've grown to like the GTR, especially the unusually large horses it seems to have.
