Once known for quite appealing coupés Peugeot lost it with the 407, which is suffering from the same disease. They should have left the job for pininfarina.

Yes but then it would be called "Peugeot R0CZ" and this is a very false statement and they might get sued.

Seriously though, when did they reach an agreement that cars need to have happy faces?
Better than the ever-popular angry snarls...and I'm glad somebody else noticed that Mazda is ripping off Peugeot!

We can all "thank" the NCAP pedestrian safety tests for the new shapes.
The long noses, curved shapes, set back lights etc all are there to manage the pedestrian hit by the car to limit their injuries.
We just have to get used to it

I think there's a place for angry cars. It makes sense for a 600+ horsepower Lamborghini to look aggressive because it'll eat you for breakfast, but when a Corolla starts to look angry and aggressive that seems silly and unnecessary...

Are overdimensioned set back lights really caused by the NCAP?
Long noses and high frontends seem logical though.
Car makers like audi have a quite traditional design in lights.

Japan has been dealing with the issue of car/pedestrian impact for a long time but they don't seem to have gravitated to the curved body on a large scale.
