    Punch Camera

Just saw this and thought you all would appreciate it.

so you take the picture, give it a minute, put a piece of paper in it, and push it down like a stapler. and out pops a dot matrix style print of the pic with holes through the paper.

This Digital Camera Prints Photos Using Holes - Punch Camera - Gizmodo

seems to just be a prototype atm, but still awesome.

Yes, I read about it. Does the size of the hole make the photos look "right"?

Imagine the hilarity if someone accidentally dropped all the clippings.

Looks cool, but still a concept.

Like every time I pick up my three-hole punch!

This is a pretty cool concept. I love the idea of alternative image makers, like my Holga $20 medium-format camera.

Is this like a reverse dot matrix?

it's fairly awesome. needs smaller dots though.

$20? Isn't that a bit cheap for a medium format camera..?

not for a Holga.. when you have a plastic body, plastic lens, and pretty much plastic everything else, there isnt too much to make it cost a lot.

They're pretty cool. The appeal is that they're cheaply made, so you get all kinds of light leaks and unexpected "undesirable" qualities in your photos that make them interesting.

yeah, ive thought about getting one, but i cant be bothered with film. if they took one, and put a small sensor in it, it would be perfect.

do you use slide film, or regular print film? ive heard the slide film, when processed like normal film gives you even crazier colors.

I use 120mm print film. You could use 220 too...the only difference is you get more exposures with 220. Film is definitely a pain in the butt...I used to do a lot of photography work, so I've got a bunch of outdated film left over, but when that runs out, I don't know if I'll get more. The cool thing about using outdated film is that you get even more weird stuff happening, so when you cross that with a Holga, it makes for good fun.

Yeah, the colors definitely get wacky when you cross-process. You can go either way. Slide film processed like normal film or vice versa.

Cool, I know exactly what you're talking about now. I used some expired FujiFilm in my dad's FM2 and I got some really nice greens for some odd reason. I really liked it.

Now I have a second film SLR too- a Mamiya DSX 1000. My uncle was cleaning out his basement and gave it to me.

Awesome. Can't wait to load film into it!
