11 sounds really cheap. I haven't been to a theatre in ages but I recall it being about 10-15 dollars at a nice theatre around here - for non-imax non-3d.

3D movies are $4.50 in College Station.

Of course, that's the only thin in College Station, but it's a nice perk.

Awesome visual feast. Too long. Cheap gung ho ending. An allegory of mankind's history of colonialism and disregard for any culture other than their own and how we solve every such disagreement with violence. And the writer decides to end it the way we end all such disputes. With a fight to annihilate the opposition. I am all for action films war films etc but this film could have been very special if someone had come up with a unique and worthy way of resolving it. Wouldn't mind going to see it again in 3D but I'm am not sure I could sit through it all again. I liked up until about 2 hours in. It kinda reminded me of Antz when the main character was rallying all the clans.

Your words remind me of "Planet of the Apes" where I left the cinema halfway during the show. Disgusting.

Yeah the one with explicit sex scenes. We are very one dimensional.

    Is it "achieved" though?

I think this movie is good, really, the story isn't banal, and can be viewed and understood by a large audience, while the quality of the technical side is superb (didn't see it on an iMax screen though), from the photography to the audio, and good acting too.
