I think the lock varies with cars. My older Toyotas had a button that you needed to push to move the key to the Lock/Remove Key position. So even if you did just turn it you wouldn't lock the steering. My later Toyotas you had to push the key in to move to the lock position. I think my Ford was the same way. Of course if you had a SAAB this would be a non-issue
My old Toyata also has button for locking the key into postion. I was thinking about it yesterday and since it is a manual I am assuming if one was stupid enough, they could complety remove the key while driving.
Do you have any automatics and if so can you remove the key without the car in park?
