I know the Deltawing looks weird and prehistoric and people are predicting that it won't be able to turn and that it would do a backwards flip at speed and this and that... yet I find myself still rooting for it.
It's something completely different to what's on racetracks today. And yes, chances are it probably won't be the selected design, but just imagine for a second that it makes it onto the track. I'd make a plan to watch the first race just to see what happens and if it can actually lap a racetrack without plowing a hole through the nearest barrier.
From what I gather, the big problem for most people appears to be the extremely narrow front track. I'm sure the design can be altered to make the track at the front wider without busting the budget or aero too much. Besides, this from the looks of things might just be a concept of the concept if that makes sense. Throw out a whacky and insane idea to drum up some excitement before releasing a more traditional (and boring) proposal. If that was the general idea, seems like it worked pretty well.
