^^ yep, that's the RISK verus SAFETY balancing act we all must operate.

Just that now as this debate was about is that modern drivers expect the car to do too much of the safety work so they can increase the risk.

If you were that tired, you shouldn't have set out ?
Or knowing how tired you MIGHT be and the length of the journey have stayed before setting out and possibly have arranged frequent stop overs.

Always we can identify the safer route.
But "always", it is MUCH easier looking back !!

If the gf isn't tired and you are then she should be driving.

Matra is, of course right. Safety is 99% driver.

But even experienced drivers talk about These safety programs as an angel on their shoulder.

I was driving back from sydney about 2 months ago with a friend and her sister (nothing too suss ) and friends sister was driving, it started pelting down (to the point you couldn't see out) and she wisely pulled over. the other two in the car gave her a bollocking "OH YOU SOFTY YOU'VE GOT SAFETY STUFF IT WILL SAVE YOU!"

I pat her on the back. Sh*t wasn't safe to drive in, and 5 minutes later the rain was gone anyway. 5 minutes out of a journey to save the drivers frame of mind? I'd do that.

were they relatively new drivers? i find this seems to be the case for newer drivers in newer cars

My friend is a fricken psycho. I feel sorry for her Mazda2 that suffers under her.

The other girl was asian, so she just needs to age a bit to have the "O" trifecta of bad drivers.

I really should have known better than to get in the car.

Then I realised statistically you're safest in the rear right seat. So it's all good
