I saw that the German had won and was wondering where this year's UCP Eurovision thread was.

Do you like the music? I have had the displeasure of watching snippets of American Idol when it's at the actually serious stage (sometimes my friends watch the tryouts in the cities across the States and they are somewhat amusing) and I find it to be terrible.

    Terrible, terrible, terrible.

I imagine this is even worse as the performers are performing original compositions and from what I gather, it's really poppy.
You don't know me, you don't know anything about me

I watch it for the schadenfreude value for the most part, laughing at more than with. The accents and production values are epic, and most of these people have three minutes to try and sell you entertainment.

It is SO much better than American Idol etc because while that show is designed to build people up, Eurovision is the payoff.

Also, having fun with mates while getting pished is great success, really.

I'd have a hard time comparing Eurovision to American shithole - I mean Idol.

Idol takes itself way to seriously.

This is full of questionable outfits, haircuts, pelvic thrusts and gratuitous use of the wind machines.

You can't take yourself seriously if you are in sequins and a wind machine is blowing you about.

I mean, would you ever see this on American Idle?

They already have a darling in the US, she's just busy riding her disco stick.
