Quite the dramatic pole for Hamilton, too, though he is on the option while Red Bull went with the primes. I've been cheering for someone other than Red Bull to win pole because of their dominance, but after that wallslapping qualifier lap I almost hoped Webber would hold on to keep it just for sheer drama. And Schumacher missing the last corner and not making the cut for Q3was kind of a bummer.

Would someone "in the know" please explain/clarify the rules for me regarding stopping out on the circuit during qualifying? Is running out of fuel not the same a being stuck in a gravel trap or crashing. And is the in-lap still considered to be part of the qualifying session or not? Thanks in advance.

Congrats to Hamilton and McLaren. Was a pretty good race, I thought. Drama up front right to the end.

sorry for the late answer, anyway, the in lap is considered as a part of the qualifying session, and drivers must go back to the pits within a certain time frame even after the session is over. Eventually, Hamilton was reprimanded, and McLaren had to pay a 10.000 $ fine.

Good race, but as for last year in some occasions, the key is bringing crappy tires.

What a race indeed. Quite a lot of action pretty much everywhere.

IMO this was the most entertaining race of the season.

now it is clear that Schumi should reconsider his comeback, and Redbull ought to bring in some qualified tacticians.

The teams will be giving Pirelli the technical specs they require, which you would assume would be as close to the existing Bridgestones as possible. If they cant produce a tyre within a certain degree of the quality Bridgestone have been it'll be interesting.

Unless they do go to 18" rims in 2011.

It's too late for that, teams already started designing the new cars so that they'll fit present tires.

nothing wrong with the Bridgestone....IMO the whole season should be like this to force people run tires off as opposed to just putting around for 1.5 hours...

The race was also much hotter than the ENTIRE weekend....and rain during the weekend washed the track green again in saturday so the tire issue is pretty much expected....
