    Finished* Ferrari 458 Italia

This is the Fujimi kit painted with Ford Toreador Red and gloss black for the roof. All was coated with TS13 and polished.

The interior is painted with Acryl Aircraft Interior Black with metallic silver mixed in.... and some semi gloss black accents the seat centers etc. Headlight bezels and engine surround panels were painted with Testors Gunmetal metalizer.

I cut out the side windows because I didn't like Fujimi's engineering in that area.

I used four rear penta rims from Fujimi's 599 kit and Tamiya Enzo front tires. I generally don't like the penta rims but IMO they work well with the 458 character lines.

Peel and stick enameled emblems were used as well as metal script transfers.

I'm not a fan of the wheels, but the execution cannot be denied.

    Kudos

What he said. Very great workmanship there.

Every time I see this, I think I should be doing this again, but.....
great stuff, I suppose the engine is just one piece to represent the upper part>

    Thanks all!

Yes, like their 430 kit you get a basic block and intake part to top it.

As for the kit...Fujimi have been improving their kits over the past three years and their 430 Scuderia kit was excellent. Well now that we expect that level of quality they take a ten year step backwards with the 458. It gives the feeling of being rushed to market...maybe to beat Revell's which will release in August... and will for sure be a better kit.

I recently noted a new foray of 1/20 F1 cars, also by Fujimi, any experience with those?

Tires not as well shaped as Tamiya but the kits look good and have plenty detail.

    Hasegawa's are better.

Thats beautiful . I'd like to give model building a shot. It seems like something I'd really enjoy.

Wheel choice may be a bit unconventional, but it looks great.

    No more progress threads, Dino?

I don't like the shade of red, it's not dark enough for me, but it is very well done/

Dino, you have a true knack for making Ferraris I DON'T like look good. They really should hire you.

The 355 and 456 look so much better than the 458 it can't even put into words.

The 355 and 456 make the already ugly modern Ferraris look like rotting corpses.

The order of heinousity is thus (from most to least heinous): FF, Cali, 458, 599.

The FF and Cali are just utterly terrible. The 458 is bad, and the 599 is near passable.
