I think they should go into the 1000s.

From what I've read it's an H-pattern. Or.. H-H pattern now I guess.
Yes, i was saying and H patern but digital, you would select gears like you normaly do, but instead of being connected to the gear box by cables or linkages it would be done digitaly.

Oh, I see what you mean. Not sure why you'd offer a digital H-H pattern over flappy paddles [racing marketeering and all that] but it's a possibility. Hopefully it's all mechanical.

They wont go into the thousands as Porsche 'owns' the rights to naming cars with 3 digit numbers starting with 9. Pug found this out the hard way a few years ago, but still proceeded to name their latest LMP car this way.

The 909 Bergspyder had a write-up in Race Car Engineering a few issues ago. Amazing car.

Pug owns all x0y numbers, though. That is why the 901 became the 911, though I'm not sure Peugeot's or Porsche's ownership of those number names carries over to racing.

Racing is probably more of a grey area. Especially concerning prototypes that have nothing to do with production road cars.

Good looking author on that one as well ...

Peugeot had a long tradition, dating from before WWII of three digit numbers with a zero in the middle. The 901 was not acceptable for them as it was a road car, but they left the 904, 906, 907,908 and 909 alone, as they were pure racing cars.
Peugeot used 905 for their first Le Mans winner in the nineties.
