    Citroën BX 4TC 1985-1986

This car is next to totally unknown outside France and specially outside the rally-world.

It was built for the glorious Group B rally championship as a contender for the Audi quattro, MG Metro 6R4 or Peugeot 205 T16. Sadly Citroën nearly did all mistakes you could do: the engine was way in front of the front axle, making the weight distribution very poor. Also the reliability wasn't very good and so the project was stopped after only a few rallies.

To get the car on the special stages in the first place, Citroën had to built 200 homologation versions for the street. They never finished all 200, some quotes tell about only around 110 cars. How many are left today is unknown, but when have you ever seen one before yourself? I guessed it

There are only 2 pics in the normal Citroën BX thread, so I think this special one is appreciated?

My WRC book said it scored a 6th place finish at the 1986 Swedish Rally at the hands of Jean-Claude Andruet/Annick Peuvergne. First appeared in the Monte Carlo Rally of the same year but looks as though it DNF'd.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

It even looks very much like the Audi Quattro just with two more doors

IIRC it also was entered in the Acropolis where it also failed to finish.

It seems especially odd that this car was such a flop and so poorly suited to the job at hand given the Peugeot side of PSA had done such an exceptional job with the 205 T16. Did their motorsports divisions not talk to each other?
