I'm pretty sure they're doing that too.

"Kimi, can you improve on your [race] finish?"
"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"
Ay least Colin would have been happy with the Telstra.

It's just not right. I thought, at first, oh, maybe something small/cheap/sporty sort of like a new-age Cortina or something but this? No. Please no Lotus.
I don't even think its that serious. IIRC Lotus is under new management; you're going to have to expect Lotus going broad at some point. How else are they have the funds for more R&D? Solely from investors?
Something similar to what IB4R discussed in the Elise Concept 2010 thread: Traditions are sometimes going to have to go through a transformation, usually at a cost such as weight and aesthetics in Lotus' situation. Cars do get bigger and bigger as we transgress through the years. I guess its time lotus wants appeal to everyone and just the "old crew" as a new pioneer in technology which is akin to McLaren's and (sooner or later) Ferrari's new/revised philosophy.
Idk, I'm just looking at this from a profiteering perspective.

Realised most UCP readers are probably too young to remember that Lotus ENGINEERING have always played in the field of "normal car design" being payed to produce solutions for all the big makers at one time or another.
My favourite .... the sound system to give the driver the exhaust and rumble of whatever engine they fancied while the car was near silent
As said already, think it's an engieering exercise to show capability in the hope that someoen else comes along and builds it .... Lotus Sunbeam anyone ?
