[QUOTE=Chernaudi;954547]Only thing I don't get is the all-LED head lamps. Hopefully the A6 will come with xenon/LED hybrid versions like the NA spec Audi A8 have as an option.QUOTE]

LED headlamps are Audi's thing, though. They were the first one to do it, afaik, and it's one of their main styling cues.

I really like the direction Audi is going with their new cars (especially the A5). They're not as stylistically or mechanically offensive as I would want my $50k+ sports/luxury car to be. But other than that, I think they're quite handsome and I really can't say anything bad about the styling.

I would say that's a good thing these days.

Shame about the grille and stupid mechanical layout.

I don't mind the grille actually - much more sculptural. The whole car is definitely a variation on the familiar theme though.

The severe rear end is Volvoesque though.

I'd say there's a place for lunacy and a place for boredom.

And both can be equally good.

The worst thing that can happen is when one tries to be the other.

that looks a bit black and white to me. I think I would have appreciated the Audi more if it had hydropneumatic suspension....(just as an example).

    But that's the thing precisely.

I like Citroëns (and Saabs, and Lancias,...). I like cars that are bonkers, preposterous, creative, brilliant, great.

But I like BMWs and Mercs too. I like cars that are well engineered, precise, fast, subtle and discreet.

Each of these types of cars have a place, as long as they are interesting, in my opinion. However these days, with cromey and glittery Benzes and art-noveau Bimmers, where do you go to get the second type of car?

Not particularly intersting is it. Audi pulled off the understated excellence styling twice in recent years for me: A5 and R8. Too close to boring now

Premonitory words, as it turns out.
