F1 engine rule change in consideration

As we all know, Formula 1 is set to adopt small 4-cylinder turbo engines in 2013, but rumours are now circulating that Bernie Ecclestone is in talks with GM on the use of the LS3 V8 instead. An Ecclestone aide has apparently leaked that the F1 boss recently travelled to Detroit to discuss with GM management "Whether or not the large V8 would be viable in Formula One from 2013 onwards". The leak detailed that "Due to spiralling costs in the sport, and the new F1 location of Austin, Texas, the 6.2 litre variant of the crate engine would be a cost effective, reliable, entertaining and culturally relevant new aspect of F1" and "May even be supplied under a GM sponsorship agreement with all teams, including both Ferrari and McLaren" who have, apparently, not yet been notified of Mr Ecclestone's latest plan. GM has refused to comment on the rumours, but it would make sense for the "financially troubled" corporation to take advantage of this offer to play a large part in the most high-profile motorsport on earth.

Buying a car and not driving it is like buying a meal and not eating it.

Spiralling costs? Artificial rain doesn't come cheap, Bernie!

    Nice one
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

I guess HRT will really be able to catch up then.

Just buy some Corvettes from the local dealer, put some wings on them and there you go, new HRT F1 car!

the ancient formula 5000 becomes formula 6000....but not in F1.

Bernie desperate to increase F1 interest in USA will clutch at anything !
Has he not thought what the other engine makers may have to say to that ?
Mercedes can make as good an engine.
BMW can make as good an engine.
Cosworth can make as good an engine.
Time for MotorGP to be created I think and leave Bernie to his billions.

EDIT: Oh HELL ..... Hell and DAMNATION .... Good one W.R. got me Just realised the date

If this happens, goodbye Formula 1 as we know it. Can you imagine Ferrari or Mercedes operating with GM engines? I wouldn't be surprised if they just ejected themselves from the sport if this went ahead.
