RSs were supposed to be estate cars only.

What´s wrong with offering a variety of RS models? Not everyone wants an estate...me included.

It was a trademark of the RS models, and it made them different.

Now they are just some fast car...

True, but BMW's are the same. First there was the M3 & M5 and now theirs the M3, M5, X5M, X6M and the new 1M. I wouln't be suprised if BMW want to build an X3M next.

Well before the RS4 sedan, there were only 2 RS cars wasn't it? The RS2 and the original RS4 wagon? Not really much of a precedence.....Audi's tier for high performance variant works differently to BMW or Mercedes anyway since "S" is mildly higher performance and "RS" is more hardcore. BMW just have the M and MB is a slew of different engined AMGs...

And in fact, being estate cars wasn't even Audi's plan, but was mandated by Porsche for fear of the RS2 competing to closely with Porsche if available in the other Audi 80 bodystyles.

In any case, it made them distinctive. It's now becoming just a badge for fast cars. Like M Bimmers...

Electric assisted steering is still relatively new all around, and many brand are still fiddling with it...Its better for efficiency overall, which is why it is used in the first place...

The one is GTI seems pretty good. The Infiniti M is kinda so-so. I am sure this is on top of all the front end geometry to start with, then you have to mess with the assist level...

I don't think Lancia's is actually connected to the wheels at all.

I have read the Nissan Leaf electric steering doesn't give good feedback either.

On the other hand I think the 1er had it as well, and it was excellent.

Fiat's should be a hybrid, part electric and part hydraulic.

Wow, then it is worse. Not that it matters much there, though, since it certainly wasn't designed to tear the laws of physics, but more feel would be nice especially at high speeds.

The Croma suffers from a feel-less steering as well, but it's perfect on the motorway, and light enough while city driving.
It's definitely not suitable for havin fun. But that's the whole car actually.

The Stilo has a maybe less assisted steering, and it's much better. Heavier, but still fine in the city.
