I thought Peugeot was always cool but I never found the appeal of their cars.
Other than being French and different, what else is cool about them anyway?

They used to race in many things rather successfully...
And they used to make cars do this...

My original point didn't revolve around coolness, past history or racing pedigree.
The new 308 is a good honest car and it deserves to succeed. It's one of those "deserving sale" cars.
Peugeot has seen a good turnaround since the early noughties. Now their line up is decent and the should succeed. Hope it's not too late...
And then they try some EDM car and they find that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.

I know, but there has been a whole lot of nothing in between....well, at least after 306 GTI

Not to mention it looks like it has some pretty seriously upgraded hardware, not the least in which are those brakes and front LSD...
Though I am curious, how much are the new Cupra R or something cost, the one that just broke the FWD production car record at the Ring?

Well, the 308 is the best European car, as voted on by that never contenscious group that decides these things. Kicks the crap out of that silly, backwards little i3.
Life's too short to drive bad cars.
Here the RCZ R is 43 grand and the Cupra 280 (no Cupra R, at least yet) is 32 grand.
I'm sure that the RCZ R is a good car and yes the engineering is very tricky, you get titanium this and unobtanium that, but essentially what you are getting a souped up family hatchback.
For a mid-30's price tag this is OK, even if it was slightly more expensive that the competing hot hatches taking into account style, exclusivity and engineering I could understand.
But the 43 grand price tag puts it in the same price bracket as the Nissan 370Z, the Chevrolet Camaro SS or the BMW M135i/M235i. Never mind the Audi TT, this car's main rivals are rear wheel drive multi-cylinder engined cars.
So I would say (at least for now), settle for one of the standard variants and avoid the R.

I frankly do not understand how the i3 managed to lose.
Maybe that was what the Chinese investment was for?
