All very interesting, but what I would like to know is why they named the car after a lizard from New Zealand....

I think it's because of the peaks on the back. Though from memory, SSC insist on pronouncing it wrong.

Life's too short to drive bad cars.
I want to argue that the first SSC wasn't very good at being an American car.
What is the single greatest contribution of American to the world of motoring?
Exactly. The Muscle Car.
What are Muscle Cars about?
Exactly. Color, noise, presence, charisma and names like King of the Road, Eliminator or Boss.
It's all about the feelings, the passion and the panache. Actual performance is actually completely irrelevant.
Exactly the opposite of the SSC Kitcar Focus headlamps Edition.
Or something.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
Visca Catalunya!
You're right about the SSC being not very "American". But that's because it was never intended to be a typical American muscle car. The whole aim of the Ultimate Aero was to be faster than the Veyron, and if I'm not wrong in saying, it was? Still a terrible car, but it achieved that aim.
SSC wanted to target the Veyron; the pinnacle of European motoring, and the epitome of straight line speed. And frankly, they succeeded.
This new car now addresses every other issue they didn't address with the Ultimate Aero... ie. everything other than straight-line speed; they got Jason Castroita to design the outside, so it no longer looks like a Kitcar with Focus headlamps, it has a nice hi-tech interior, so it's not just a place to sit in while you drive, and they got improved handling I presume by looking at the specs?
I personally have much faith in this car. I really hope it succeeds, and can join the ranks of Koenigseggs, Paganis, and other big Euro hypercar brands, because the Tuatara genuinely looks amazing

But they can still play outside of their mold successfully...Mercedes have made some pretty brash "muscle cars" in the past, and Italian have made sports saloon and hot hatches....I don't see why American can't make supercars/hypercars....Heck, Koenigsegg comes from a country know for making brick looking safe cars....

Well... they did pretty well!

Indeed, I am still waiting for any report on how it drives.
"Horsepower sells motor cars, but torque wins motor races."

I don't think they have a working prototype of the car yet.

Supposedly the rear end to go into the Tuatara...
If thats the level of engineering to expect on this, this is a POS....to add to my comment on the Pagani post elsewhere, I'll give Panani this, at least they know how to do things properly....this is worst than most FSAE car...

Better to concentrate on some more affordable, more enjoyable cars, then.
