In a performance car, yes it is. I would be very pissed if I owned this Jag and got my doors blown off by a car costing 20 grand less.

Power and a proper manual six speed.

Too much essence of Aston in my opinion.

I agree with you, but just remember, the XK is not all performance. It has the Jaguar name and connections with AM so I think we would be safe to call this a luxury cruiser kinda car. The XKR would define performance somewhat, though with the base line I agree with you, 300hp isn't enough.

Power and a proper manual six speed.
    You beat me to it
    Unlikely though
If they put paddle-shift on AM they'll most probably do the same here

the AM gets a manual this year its the same clutch as the FPV F6, so they had to spend some extra time on it....

I cannot believe that they put these out as press images.
Look at the colour difference between the body and front bumper.
    It's terrible.

Obviously it does get a bit annoying when the power you want isnt there .. but most buyers of the XK8 will be large businessmen who dont care about going fast. They'd most likely never go far above the speed limit unless it was a bad day at the office.

The 2005 Jaguar Lightweight Concept looked much more agressive and sportier.

Also the front kinda reminds me of a 2002 Hyundai Coupe

Wished they'd kept the squarer front 3/4 vent, but it's a nice looker.

    A Little conservative though.
