European pedestrian safety regulations might have something to do with it.

I would be surprised, it would not make sense that they make concept cars not based on European regulations, especially future ones...

Strange place of the cruise control/limiter button. In the center console. The position in the current Laguna is much better (left of the steering wheel).

That "Set Button" on the centre console might be more for the GPS.

Actually yes. The joystick and the buttons behind the gear lever are for the sat-nav and trip computer.

Yes, but the button to switch on the system doesn't. That button sits near the navigation controls.

ah right, got you ... inst' that just the "enabled" button ?
Whether you engage it or speedup/slow down are still all on the wheel ?

Incorrect. The button on the right (with the 'R' and the 'O') will operate as a cruise control on/off button. With the 'O' button you will be able to set the cruise control on. The 'R' button will reset the cruise control to ---km/h. To turn off the cruise control either the throttle, brake or clutch should be touched.

The button on the left, with '+' and '-', will enable you to set the speed of the cruise control.

That's true. But, the button where you can switch on/off the entire system sits near the navigation panel, that button has 3 options: Cruise, off and limiter. With the buttons on your wheel you can set the speed.

The 2007 looks pretty good, although I would much rather have a Megane or Clio.

    and start it.
IIRC the switch in question will be generally left in Cruise by drivers who liek to use cruise control.
Until the "set" button is pressed on the wheel it does nothing. Once set then pressing any pedal will disengage it.
So not really a problem beign where it is and an advantage not to be cluttering up the controls close to the driver ?

Why would you have a speedlimiter? If you would just set the cruise control to that speed nothing can happen...

And as stated before: the R/O button on the right, is used to turn the cruise control on and off...

The speed limiter isn't such a daft idea as it may seem in today's heavily monitored roads. That way you don't have to glance at the speedo all the time and instead you can concentrate on the road as you should.

Agreed. Didn't think of it. But still, it can't be that button... There's no way that Renault would put such an important button way over there. We have a Renault and my dad has always been enthusiast about the placement of the various buttons...
