Also I think this is the timing result:
    powered by LiveTiming.net

Only 8 cars gone under 10min. Not as fast as I expected them to be also. I guess only Peugeot and to some extent, Millen's Hyundai did their sums right for the fully paved version.

I wonder if something like this might now attract the EU Hill climb people, though I think the rule still differs a bit. The traditional Hill climb open wheeler popular in the UK won't be legal since they don't have full cage...

He can be quite good but the sport is pathetic. Therefore we'll never know I guess...

    Maybe WTCC.

Here on the continental we used to use (don't know if they still do, its popularity has been much reduced in recent years) traditional open-topped sportscars, though those still do not have a full cage either.

The cage rule is the reason why cars like the Norma or the Radical used by TMC have that cage outside of the typical open cockpit sports racer design.

Tajima's electric car have more or less matched the time of his old gas car. (maybe a bit slower, since the gas car ran the hybrid course with dirt and pavement). But I fully expect a company like Toyota or something will build a purpose built EV to try to win overall. They need to be really fast though to challenge the 8:13 mark...

This is what they use these days:

    Still no full roll cage.

I'd be curious to see what the Norma would've posted. Too bad Dumas crashed.

I am still skeptical it has enough power....none of the EU Hillclimb is as high as PPIHC....

RM got it spot on why so few would come from European hillclimb scene to Pikes Peak.
Over here we are right on the limit of the engine power , then adding the boost to cope with so little oxygen would mean a massive development and suspect exploding engines. Hell we took out 4 in the last 2 weeks in the Scottish hills ( not me personally thankfully )
Also the safety adds another level again needing custom car to meet.

I'd bet Romain Dumas probably was pretty happy his car was fully caged. They make some pretty funky looking car, but an off at Pikes Peak is no joke....

Just before the 7 minute mark, it displayed his heart beats per minute, 188.
