Under lovely blue skies, the legendary Spa-Francorchamps hosted the fourth annual Spa Classic this weekend. The event's schedule was jam-packed and on Saturday the racing actually ran into the night. All of organiser Peter Auto's familiar grids were represented, including the Classic Endurance Racing, Sixties' Endurance Racing and Trofeo Nastro Rosso. Complementing these well stocked fields, were races for Historic Formula 2 and Group C cars. The latter had a particularly sparkling grid with two Sauber-Mercedes C11s, a howling Mazda 767B and an Intrepid to name just a few highlights. Clubs also took centre stage, filling all available space in the paddock, while the cars were also invited onto the track during the breaks. British auctioneer Bonhams held an auction during the Spa Classic for the second time, which was topped by the Ferrari 308 GTB Group B we featured last week, selling for just over EUR 600,000.
Enjoying the very uncharacteristic sunshine, our photographers were at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit throughout the weekend. The result is a detailed report, illustrated by a mouthwatering 290-shot gallery.
