Geneva Motor Show Day One round-up ...

Today, the 86th Geneva Motor Show kicked off with the first of a pair of press days. Among the most highly anticipated cars revealed was the all-new Aston Martin DB11 Coupe. Replacing the DB9, it is powered by a V12 engine developed together with new technologies partner Daimler AG. This twin-turbo, 5.2-litre unit is good for 600 bhp.
Bentley showed a fourth member of the Mulsanne family with this even more luxurious Mulsanne Grand Limousine.
Celebrating the recent motorsport success, Chevrolet developed a Civic Hatchback Prototype. The production version should also become available in the United States.
Certainly hard to miss is the 770 hp Lamborghini Centenario, which is built to celebrate what would have been the 100th birthday of founder Feruccio. The Centenario will be limited to 20 examples each, the Centenario will be available as a Coupe and a Roadster.
Morgan debuted the EV3, which is the near production ready, all-electric version of the acclaimed Three Wheeler.
Purists will particularly enjoy the Porsche 911 R, which is a limited edition, stripped down version of the GT3 RS. Available with a manual gearbox only, it does retain the fabulous 500 hp flat six engine.
Making a grand return in Geneva is Dutch niche manufacturer Spyker, who took the wraps off the C8 Preliator. Still instantly recognisable as a Spyker, it is powered by a supercharged version of the familiar, Audi-sourced eight-cylinder engine.
Among the new cars revealed by Volkswagen was the highly efficient but somewhat odd T-Cross Breeze Concept.

So what's the consensus? A pretty nice show to contrast Detroit. Kinda lame how everything is leaked before these days, and a big surprise a la the new new GT40 is rare, but oh well.

That Centenario is real ugly. Pay multiple times the price of the Reventon for an uglier car that will end up on Jameslist in 12-24 month's time at or near list price; maybe above even.

It's funny that now that Audi has tried to be creative (by Audi standards anyway) the Q2 turned out to be uglier than the regular one-styling-fits-all Audis.

Abarth 124 may be interesting, but at forty grand it's a no go. Wait 12-18 months, get one for 40% off list price.

Also the standard Giulias do not look bad at all. Same tactic as Abarth above? A shame that the petrols only come with automatics (for the moment at least).
Lack of charisma can be fatal.

The Q2 should sell about 198263109283 units though. Brilliant. A bit of an odd lucking duck, but I do like the rear three quarter. A solid move by Audi. I would expect them to sell it over here, where it can cannibalize A3 and Golf sales.
