As a regular visitors to the Peter Auto events, we have most cars that compete race before but fortunately and remarkably there are always exceptions. Among those at the recent Espiritu de Montjuic were the three racers featured today. The oldest of the trio is this Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0. One of the very last examples constructed, this example is one of a handful built up from a shell supplied by Porsche. It was raced extensively in France in period and competed at the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia several times. Chassis 006 0015 has benefitted from a fresh restoration.
Fast forward a decade to the BMW 635 CSi Group A highlighted today. We did see this car ex-Schnitzer car before but only in a demonstration. It has recently changed hands and was brought back to Group A specification to race in Peter Auto's HTC series.
Also out in Barcelona was this ex-works Dodge Viper GTS-R. One of the first examples built, it was raced at Daytona and Le Mans in 1997. In private hands, its contemporary racing career lasted through to 2001. Chassis C3 has now been restored to its works colours and was campaigned in the Endurance Racing Legends races.
Just in time for summer, Aston Martin have taken the top off the highly acclaimed coupe to create the equally striking DBS Superleggera Volante. Like the coupe it was derived from, the new Volante features a twin turbocharged V12 that is good for a hefty 715 bhp and 900 Nm of torque. The 5.2 litre engine is mated to ZF's eight-speed automatic.
