We would like to start the year by wishing you all the best for 2020 and also by taking a closer look at three recent sports racers that competed in the exciting Endurance Racing Legends races last season.
The earliest and most interesting of the three is this Panoz Esperante GTR-1, which was one of the great GT1 cars of the late 1990s. Of these homologated, yet purpose-built racers, this was the only one that featured the unconventional front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. The featured example was raced from the second half of the 1997 season and was also campaigned at Le Mans in 1998.
Introduced in 2000 and aimed at the gentleman racers was the Lola B2K/40. The entry-level prototype racer was raced on both sides of the Atlantic. The car highlighted today has had an extensive racing career, which included outings in North America and also at Le Mans.
Like the Panoz and Lola, this Viper GTS-R also raced at the recent Dix Mille Tours. It has also had a lengthy period racing career, starting with French singer David Hallyday behind the wheel.
