Even though the upcoming Goodwood Members' Meeting has been postponed due the COVID-19 outbreak, the Bonhams Auction scheduled on the same weekend is still on. Interested parties can not bid in person and instead, the sale caters for absentee, telephone and online bids.
One of our favourite lots consigned is the unique Lister Maserati works car. It was built by Brian Lister for the great Archie Scott Brown to race during the 1956 season. Mating a Maserati engine to the Lister chassis was an interesting and relatively successful experiment, but Brian Lister nevertheless opted to switch to Jaguar power from the 1957 season onwards. In more recent years, the one-off Lister Maserati has been restored to full running order to race in historic event on both sides of the Atlantic. Interestingly, it comes with the original Maserati A6 GCS engine.
The most valuable car consigned to the sale is this low mileage Ford GT. Delivered to its first and only owner early in 2018, it is painted black and fitted with the appropriate registration number '1966 GT'. The GT is estimated to find its second custodian on Sunday for GBP 700,000 - 900,000.
