I thought that Mercedes hit rock bottom with the A-Class, who knew you could destroy an alread bad car?

Ok the current A class is ugly, but this just isnt funny anymore...
This is not a Mercedes, or have their designers finally gone mad...
it looks more like a Peugeot!
Well apparently their also bringing out a new B class. Is this true?

    Expect more of this.

I liken the hate for some of the 'new look' a bit like the original backlash on the Ford Sierra "jelly-mould" design and look 20 years later, every car was a copy.

Get used to those lights, they're coming your way and in 5 years time you'll think square and round lamps were "quaint"

It's the new solution to the "moose test".

The looks scares the animal away so you don't have to avoid it

The original A Class was very popular in cities like HongKong where roads are narrow and tons of other cars everywhere. It's got to have it appeal somewhere or else MB wouldn't be making it.

Again, I notice as with the Nissan GTR concept, it is the Americans leading the charge, with the resounding cry of

    "It's rubbish, I hate it!"

I think that it is a significant improvement on the original, it is very sharp, and poised, unlike the 1er, which looks like an inside out crisp packet.

When will you begin to understand that most people in Europe like things that look as if they have been designed (hence it is Renault, BMW and other European manufacurers that make nice looking cars).

The general American populace aren't happy unless they are driving something vast and square, or large and globular.

Europeans may look at the Renault Megane and say; "An interesting and exciting design that makes the Golf look like a stodgy lump of dough"

Whereas in America I get the impression that when a Megane meets the eye of Joe Public they announce to all; "That car is too sharp and visually exciting. I'd much rather have a Golf to go with this stodgy lump of dough that is this donut".

And automotive Designers across the globe shake their heads, and resume contemplative chewing of their Bic biros, wondering how long untill America will understand "design".
    Thanks for all the fish
