Have to admit, I do have a real soft spot for this working class hero. So there is more to come.

I always liked this car for its sporty looks with the long hood. As I was looking for a "classic" replacement car, at a time I even considered buying a Capri.

However, I believe the looks of the Capri should match the performance. Unfortunately, the majority of the Capri's offered have the "weak" 1.3 or 1.6 engines. The Turbo and RS versions are exceptions of course but they are quite rare, especially in good condition.

So I am now focussing on a "modern" car with matching performance. Hey, I recently got promoted so maybe my dream will come true soon

V6 were moderately popular here. You can find the late 2.8s quite easily for around 5 to 6 grand.

You can find some Capris over here...but the problem is that most of them are ruined by the owners by putting a huge bodykit on. And then there's the rust problem. All cars from that period had rust, and the Capri is no exception.
Besides, the only model that is REALLY common is the 3rd gen and some 2nd gens. I haven't seen an affordable priced '73 model for years now. Maybe because they are so good looking
Besides, most Capris had the same problem as their rivals, the Mantas. They lacked the power their exterior promised. At least 'til the big sixes arrived.

Ah the Manta, lovley car too altough for some reason much rarer than the Capri over here. And it could only be had with a 110bhp four at most.

The exceptions being of course exotics like Manta 400 and Irmscher built 6-cyl versions.
