This weekend, we are at the Goodwood Revival Meeting and a set fixture is the annual Bonhams Auction due to take place on Saturday. The headlining lot this is year is most appropriate as it is the 1952 Goodwood 9 Hours winning Aston Martin DB3. The fifth example built, this was a works racer and also appeared at Monaco, Le Mans and Sebring. The victory of DB3/5 at Goodwood was the first major win for the post-War Aston Martin competition effort. The car came full circle in 2017 when it was driven to victory during the Goodwood Revival by Rob Hall. Recently refurbished, it estimated to sell for £2.8 - 3.2 million.
Another iconic British racer consigned to the sale is this Sunbeam 2-Litre Grand Prix. This car was the prototype and intended to be the spare for the Strasbourg Grand Prix but when one of the three race cars was damaged, it was entered for Henry Segrave. Following its factory racing career, chassis 1.22 had a colourful life. It is now back to its original guise and can be yours on Saturday.
Artcurial revealed this Lamborghini Miura S as the first headliner for the upcoming Paris sale in October. Having had just one owner for the last 48 years and beautifully maintained, 3997 retains matching numbers engine and body. The presale estimate is €900,000 - 1,400,000.
