The private treaty department of Anglo-Canadian auctioneer, RM Sotheby's has been busy of late and has now consigned this BMW 320 Group 5. This spectacular silhouette racer with iconic Jägermeister livery was campaigned by Harald Grohs during the 1977 season. Rare when new, there are only very few survivors and chassis E21 R1-06 has benefited from a complete restoration with the help of the original owner. Sadly, RM Sotheby's do not list a price for giant-killing BMW.
With the C 63 S E Performance Mercedes-AMG has produced one particularly powerful hybrid machine. It features a two-litre engine with Formula 1 derived, electrically assisted turbo and a rear-mounted electric motor. The result is a maximum system output of a staggering 670 bhp. The C 63 S E Performance will be available at the market launch with the Sedan or Estate bodystyles.
At this weekend's Chantilly Arts & Elegance near Paris, Renault will unveil this R5 Turbo 3E as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the original R5. The model name makes crystal clear that it is an electric interpretation of the wild mid-engined Turbo 2 rally cars of the 1980s. Built on a spaceframe chassis, the R5 Turbo 3E is equipped with an electric motor that is mounted amidships and drives the rear wheels.
