Later this week, RM Sotheby's will host a dedicated sale in Munich. Among the most striking consignments is this Grand Prix winning McLaren MP4-16 Mercedes. It is the fifth of seven MP4-16s built, which proved to be the second best car to the Michael Schumacher driven Ferrari. Driven to victory in the Austrian Grand Prix by David Coulthard, chassis MP4-16A-05 is offered complete but with a mock-up engine. It nevertheless has a pre-sale estimate of €1,700,000 - 2,000,000.
Due to attract the highest bids is this Ferrari F40, which was sold new to ex-F1 and Indy racer Roberto Moreno. Now offered from a Swiss collector, it actually spent most of its life in German hands. With less than 10,000 km on the odometer, it it should sell for around €2.5 million.
Being held in Munich, it is only fitting that a comprehensive BMW collection is consigned to the sale. It is headed by this BMW 507 Roadster. This Series II model was with the same owner between 1973 and 2013. More recently shown in the current owner's private museum, so 70143 will require recommissioning but still has a €1,600,000 - 2,000,000 estimate.
