It will be a very busy week in Paris and headlines will certainly be made at the official Artcurial Retromobile auction. Among the many great consignments are three machines from the estate of the late Bart Rosman. An avid collector and historic racer with a particular interest in Ferraris and Bugattis, he sadly passed away in September of 2021. The crown jewel of his stable is this Ferrari 340 America Touring Barchetta, which he already bought in the mid-1970s. It was raced at Le Mans and won at Daytona. Rarely seen since, chassis 0120A should sell for €5 - €8 million and is offered at no reserve. The same goes for the Bugatti Type 35C and Bugatti Type 43 Grand Sport also offered from the Rosman estate. Both are great and well known examples, powered the mighty three-valve, straight-eight engine.
On Wednesday, this fabulous Ferrari 643 F1 will cross the block at RM Sotheby's. Raced during the 1991 season by Jean Alesi and Gianni Morbidelli, it has benefited from a comprehensive rebuilt by specialists Modena Motorsports. Reflecting the recently increasing interest in 3.5-litre Formula 1 cars, chassis 127 has a €2.9 - €3.4 million estimate.
At this weekend's Daytona 24 Hours, Chevrolet showed the upcoming Corvette Z06 GT3.R for the first time. Due to make its competition debut one year from now, it is built to the GT3 regulations, which will make it eligible for all major sports car races and championships. The coming twelve months will be used to further hone the Z06 GT3.R before it will take on the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Lamborghini in the GT3 category.
