For many years the official auction company at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, RM Sotheby's now stages their final Amelia Island Auction this weekend after event organiser Hagerty and their newly acquired auction arm have taken over. Intending to go out with a bang, the sale on Saturday is headlined by this Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder. It was bought new by an 18-year-old scion of a very wealthy American family. He specified a distinct metallic blue but during the last restoration, it was decided to paint the car the burgundy colour it still wears today. Chassis 1203GT has a pre-sale estimate of $9 - $11 million.
Also consigned are fine examples of two of Ferrari's legendary supercars. The earliest is this 288 GTO that was cherished throughout its life. Coming from a 22-year single ownership, it has covered less than 8,000 km from new. Used even more sparingly is this F50, which was retained by the original owner for 27 years. It was then submitted to a refurbishment at the hands of specialists DK Engineering and is now offered with a pre-sale estimate of $4.75 - $6 million.
A more recent hypercar on offer is this Bugatti Chiron from 2019. Having had just two owners from new and actually enjoyed quite a bit, it should now find its third owner for around $3 million.
