After several specific previews, Lamborghini today took the wraps off the all-new Revuelto. In many ways a revolutionary machine, it is the first regular Lamborghini production car with a hybrid drivetrain, the first with a complete carbon-fibre composite chassis and the first mid-V12 engined model with the engine mounted longitudinally and the gearbox placed behind the engine. The heart of the Revuelto is fortunately still a high revving V12 that produces 814 bhp at a staggering 9,250 rpm. This naturally aspirated engine is assisted by three electric motors; two mounted on the front axle and one at the rear. The combined output of the V12 and three motors is a hefty 1,001 bhp. By using electric motors only on the front axle, the Revuelto can also apply very advanced torque vectoring and the electric motors can also work without the V12 in an electric-onlu four-wheel drive mode. Gone are the in-board springs and dampers of the Aventador, which for packaging reasons have been replaced by conventionally located by sophisticated MagneRide springs and dampers. The styling is a further evolution of the existing Lamborghini design language and also incorporates nods to classic models like the Diablo. The advanced aerodynamics generate more downforce than the outgoing model to ensure the Revuelto will go around corners properly as well.
Lamborghini also announced that starting with the Revuelto, every new model will have a form of electrification.
