    The Mini

What's y'alls thoughts on the New Mini. Personally I like it, but I've heard differently from a lot of old timers that grew up with the original.

I love it. It's the nicest small car.

It's not small on the outside, just on the inside. Actually it's quite the opposite from the original Mini.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

Seeing the two side by side, I am almost convinced you could fit an entire Mini inside a MINI.

(Even the name is bigger )
    Thanks for all the fish

my dad used to own the old mini in the 80's in pakistan. i like the new mini is pretty nice. expensive but has a powerful sport version & even optional cabrio. i went to the mini's site & read that the new mini has won many awards around the world.

If an original Mini owner makes the comparison the new MINI is a poor shadow.

The new MINI is a nice car, but just cannot be as precise and "chuckable" as an original tuned Mini.

They are for different times. A car as "rough" as the old Mini only managed to continue selling because of the love for the vehicle and it's look. BMW have tried to capitalise on that and have suceeded in meeting the aspirations of those who liek the look and the image. The vast majority of those would never have bought an original Mini for it's lack of sophistication and safety. Anyone buying an old Mini should put a roll cage in. Then you get a bit more safety. We wrote-off 3 Mini's and in 2 of the cases the roll cage saved the life. Only one of them was on a rally event !!!

Well, it's not very small, but it's a relatively small car. Of course the original is much smaller.

Love it also. Has a nice combination of handling, power, utility, safety devices, and standard equipment, all for a very reasonable price (even with the artificially restricted supply here in the US). And the looks...well, not much to argue with there IMO.
