Shelby Cobra Concept vs. production car of your chioce

Ford has been bringing back classic cars of our past, in the forms of the retro design on the 2005 mustang, 2004 GT, and now the shelby cobra concept. Here are the vital statistics....
    General specifications
    Country of origin United States
    Produced in 2004
    Introduced at 2004 NAIAS
    Numbers built N/A
    Body design N/A
    Weight 1395 kg / 3075.4 lbs

    Drivetrain
    Engine Ford Modular 90º V10
    Engine location Front, longitudinally mounted
    Displacement 6.392 liter / 390.1 cu in
    Valvetrain 4 valves/cylinder, DOHC
    Fuel feed Fuel injection
    Aspiration Naturally Aspirated
    Gearbox Ricardo 6 Speed Manual
    Drive Rear wheel drive

    Performance figures
    Power 605 bhp / 451.3 kW @ 6750 rpm
    BHP/Liter 94.6
    Torque 679 Nm / 500.8 ft lbs @ 5500 rpm
Power to weight ratio 0.43 bhp/kg
    Top Speed N/A
    0-60 mph Acceleration N/A

The Cobra has the makings to be an animal on the streets, with its light weight and high horsepower and torque. As many say this is just a show car, they are mistaken, Carol Shelby himself has taken the car up to 150 mph so it is for real not just a pretty body slapped on some old frame. The car can be seen going from prototype on a computer to the real working car on the show "Rides" on TLC.

My question to all of you is what do you beileve is a wrothy competitor? Make sure you compare production cars, i.e no blitz supras, hennnesey vipers, etc... Try to remember they are going to try and produce the cobra to be a competitor with the 2004 viper and cars in the price range. I am not limiting price on this thread but try to keep it within reason.

Worthy competitor? I'd go for an Ultima GTR, though I'm still not actually sure if it's technically a production car.

In it's highest spec it weighs 990kg and puts out 534bhp (According to http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame...car.mv&num=487 anyway)

So I'll see your power to weight ratio of 0.43 bhp/kg, and raise you 0.11bhp to 0.54 bhp/kg.

And the corners? The Ultima GTR is the car that the Mclaren F1 was based on, so I'm going to stick my neck out and say it don't turn too bad either.

Cost? It weighs in at $89,000 ready built, minus the engine and gearbox, so with that factored in I'd say you're still looking at less than $150,000, though I could be wrong, anyone want to tell us how much a small block chevy V8 and a Porsche G50 transaxle cost?

THey used it as an engine mule, not quite the same thing.

It still handles superbly well though

But they don't supply complete cars, so not really a "production car" . But there again neither are they one-off specials.

For ready to drop in engine packages though see http://www.amerspeed.com/ultima.htm

Ahh, makes more sense I guess. I've read tons of times that it was based on it, but I guess that's just a testament to the hall of chinese whispers that is the interpornweb.

On a side note, I've totally got the hang of the quote tags.

All I have to do now is work out how to embed URLs and I'll be able to die a happy man.

    Only stationery.

Been on track with the predecessor, the Spyder at Brands.
Tried my best persuasion to swap cars for a few laps, but the owner wan't up for it

There is 3 people on a boat with loads of children running around it, the 3 people are: 1. Bob geldof, 2. Ozzy Osbourne, and 3. Micheal jackson, they're sailing out for the G8 live aid, they've hit a rock and they're sinking, bob says: "save the children!" ozzy says: "Fuc the children!"

Micheal says "have we got time?"

I think that the Stealth B6 would be a very good competitor, though I'm not sure if it's a production car. It has very good performance(weighs 2050 lbs. and has 511 bhp)and costs 75,000 Pounds, but I don't know how much that is in US dollars.
