I agree, 0-60 or 0-62 is sort of pointless without considering higher speeds, particularly for cars that are capable of close to 200 mph. This standard may have been useful for when even the very fastest street cars would be lucky to break 8 seconds. I reckon 40-100, or 60-150 (for modern supercars), would be a better benchmark as too narrow a range may only highlight a particular gearing advantage at that speed for some cars.

I voted for the Ferrari. I think it looks better, and it has that race car vibe whilst the Lambo has more of a high performance street car thing going on.

F430 is probably the better car, but I'd rather a Lambo, just would, though I wouldn't say no to a 308 GTB, 288 GTO or 355

    4wd

4WD will always be better than rear will drive even with electronic differentiantials-launch controls and other super sophisticated yet silly trics fullstop.
Gallardo does NOT oversteer or understeer even in wet (especially with Pirelli) It seems like running on rail!!!
Lamborghini = Audi = German = fantastic Quality + Reliability = very good reselling
Ferrari = Italian = Stylish = Loud = poor quality + Reliability = very bad reselling price.
Lambo is good for everyday use (as long as you are willing to constantly feed the 5000cc monster power engine) where as Ferrari suffers engine cooling in traffic, very delicate electronic compartments, very sensitive engine.

This is my opinion according to personal experience (and that’s no bull-shit)... Either you accept it or reject it I will still be driving my shiny blue Gallardo in the streets of Athens..

P.S. ok.. the Ferrari sounds nice (although the 360 sounded better) yet the Gallardo roars scarier!!!

    Lambo FOR EVER

Regardless of whether you drive a Lambo (have you heard of the so-called 'egg-nog' test?) almost all of what you just said is utter nonsense.

Rear wheel drive always makes for a much nimbler car - thanks to the lack of mechanics in the front weighing down the nose and the general weight penalties that come from having 4WD - also, if you can't handle 500 brake in a rear wheel drive car, you shouldn't have a 500bhp car.

The Gallardo does understeer. It has been widely reported in the press and my experience round Chobham brought me to the same conclusion. I've also been driven around Oulton Park in one by a race driver and even I could feel the front tyres scrubbing.

Ferrari's new cars work just fine - reliability isn't really an issue with them anymore. Since the introduction of the 360 and Luca Di Montezemelo (oh yeah, and the Honda NSX) Ferrari have really sorted their build quality and reliability issues out.

The 430 suffers cooling issues in traffic? What cack, this is a road car - and a modern one at that - built for rich people who will spend most of their time prancing along some poncy boulevard, not hammering round a track. They're fine in traffic.

What is a sensitive engine? I would have said that was good thing.

2 Great cars...such a hard choice. I think I would give the edge to the Ferrari F430.
    Top 10:
    1) Mclaren F1
    2) Dodge Viper
    3) BMW M5
    4) Ferrari F430
    5) Ferrari Enzo
    6) Corvette Z06
    7) Lamborghini Gallardo
    8) 1967 AC Cobra 427
    9) 1971 Hemi Cuda
    10) Mercedes SL55 AMG

I think the F430 body style looks more cool than the Gallarado.
