    $4.455 million for this baby

This 1935 Duesenberg SJ Speedster sold at the Pebble Beach Auction for US$4.455 million, the top price paid at any of the weekend auctions.

"The 1935 Duesenberg SJ Speedster "Mormon Meteor" was available for sale for the first time since 1959."

"The 'Mormon Meteor' is one of the most important and historic automobiles of the pre war era," commented David Gooding, founder of Gooding & Company. "We were immensely proud that its owner entrusted its sale to the Pebble Beach Auction, which resulted in its world record sale price." The "Mormon Meteor" is one of the fastest, most powerful, and most famous Duesenbergs, and had not been offered for sale for 45 years, which created the interest and resulted in an impressive sale price."

    NICE!

If I were a a very wealthy clasic car owner (who noes nothing about the car) I think I would pay about 100K-200K just judging the looks. I think asking 4,455,000 million dollars is a little much.

That is a lot of money for such a car! I don't know anything about the car, but that seams to much for it (just as others are saying..lol); then again, maybe it will gain more value years down the road?!

this car...ive never seen it in real life, but i really wana - seems to have been the mclaren of its times...(or the pumped up civic wich beat the mclaren ). there's this game, bootleggers.us, i used to go there quite a bit, and this car can be stolen and sold. the value is abt $56,000, but it sells for like $200,000...coz it like the best car to commit crimes with, coz no1 can catch u.

    but $4.455 is a litle too much....:S

EDIT: can any1 post the specs for this car? i cant find em anywhere. thnx

It's an awesome car. It was a supercar in its days, it could do over 140mph in a day when i good car MIGHT be able to do 100. Not only that, but it has the Duesenberg name, a one-off body, and it's a roadster to boot. Other Duesenbergs regularly sell for over a million $ US. Between you and me I think it was a couple of rich guys with more money and pride than sense.

Here's what I'd rather have, it's worth around $500.000 US:
