    Evans Automobiles

I doubt any of y'all have heard of this car manufacturer, it is very small. However I think they make some cool cars, and in fact I actually got to meet the guy who owns the company, and he also designs and manufacturers the cars with the help of the rest of his small staff. One of his employees I happen to be friends with and go to school with now. Anyways, I believe they have participated in some local sportscar races here at Road Atlanta (by the way they're based in Stone Mountain, Georgia...which is about 45 minutes from me). They have to cars available right now, the Evans 386 LM and the Evans 486 LM. I got to hear the first 486 LM crank up about a year ago, and it sounded great.
Here are some specs on the 486 LM:

    Curb weight - 2310 lb.
    Weight Distribution f/r - 40/60
    Wheel base - 106.3 in.
    Length - 171.0 in. 486
    Width - 80.75 in.
    Height - 40.5 in.
Ground clearance - 2.75 to 5.0 in. w/ hydraulic height adjustment

    ENGINE

Type - V8, liquid cooled, aluminum block and heads (LS6)
    Displacement - 346 cu in. / 4. 7 liter
    Horsepower - 440 bhp @ 6000 rpm
    Torque - 430 ft-lb (540 ft-lb*) @ 4800 rpm
Fuel - unleaded, 92 pump octane

    CHASSIS & BODY

Layout - mid engine / rear drive
Chassis - steel tube spaceframe with aluminum and carbon panels
Body - carbon fiber sandwich with Nomex core.
    Wheels/Tires - 8.5x18 / 255 / 40-ZR18 (fronts)
    12x18 / 345 / 35-ZR18 (rears)
Steering - rack & pinion with power assist
Suspension - unequal length A-arms with push rods and concentric spring gas shocks; hydraulic ride height adjustment
Transaxle - 5 speed with Quaiffe limited slip differential (Porsche)
    Brakes front/rear - 6 piston calipers; 13 in. rotor / 4 piston calipers; 13 in. rotor

    PERFORMANCE

    0-60 /Quarter Mile - 3.8 sec. / 11.8 @ 116 mph
Top Speed - 180 mph @ 6500 rpm (rev limited) with standard gearing. Other ratios are available.

    MSRP

    486 LM - $135,000

The only modifications done to the LS6 engine is in the exhaust system, it has tubular headers (2.5 inch primary tubes, I believe) and it has 4 inch exhaust piping.

Here are some pictures of the 486 LM.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the 486 LM is also available to be equipped with a 550 hp 427 (7.0 Liter) engine as well, but for more money of course.

Kinda ugly, looks too much like a kit car. Nice Engine and specs though.

There seems to be an awful lot of this type of thing around, as if everyone with a bit of engineering know how has decided to make a tube framed, small block powered, fibreglass bodied, 80's space car styled road racer named after themselves.

    Edit to add:

    "Displacement - 346 cu in. / 4. 7 liter" 346 cubes is about 5.6L
Horsepower wins races. Torque pulls trailers.
