    VtecMini's World of Weird.

I saw this today and had to show you guys. It's just the best thing!

Ladies, gents and karrmann, I present to you...

    The Flying Lawnmower!

(you might wish to knock your speakers onto mute for the duration of the video, because behind the amusing video is a sound so abhorrant I thought all copies had been cast into the fires of hell... But apparently not.)

Hahaha nice nice.. wouldn't that lawn mower body make it have a lot of drag though, so how does it fly so easily? Anyhoos, that's cool =)

I thought that. I kinda pondered how it managed to fly properly with those big handles up that high.

I'm going to make a Back to the Future DeLorean and strap it on an r-c plane someday........and instead of putting 'Cotton Eye Joe' as the theme it will be Bohemian Rhapsody.

I've seen a few of these.
It's a current craze for r/c builders who've become bored with the normal stuff.

it's not a lawnmower body stuck on a plane.

It's a ground up "lifting body" design.

There are loads of crazy ones out there if you do a search you'll find the vids.
I'll search the local club site, they had a few up there.

im no aeronautical engineer(im not even sure i can spell it) but im presuming those big handles and hte "engine" somehow provide liftwhen popelled forward.not sure about control surfaces though....

    led a busy long life.
So if I've not done it myself, I've been around when otheres have
I played with r/c when I was young, got back into it again when my kids were young - but they didnt' show interest. Still keep in touch with 2 mates who are SERIOUS on flight and 1/5 scale car racing. FANTASTIC buzz.

Mate was on MSN and sent me the plans for the lawnmower
DAMN it's too big, but he says it's donwloadable at http://www.flyingthingz.com/online_manuals.htm
he also told me that the handles are their for trimming and balance and dont' move once airborne - my error
See attached if you want to do it.
he also said that the company who does it are responsible for MOST of the odd shapes around in the skies - http://www.flyingthingz.com/
I've seen a flying British road sign and the lawn mower at local air display.

The create lift from the shape of the BODY of the object, so no wings sticking out - though I'm sure the 'mower I saw had mini fins on the side.
If you look at the buid manual it's clear the flat deck of the mower is actually the wing with end plates to look like a mower
