Remember when Lancia mattered?! I don't! It was before I was alive! Maybe their brand presence, I dunno, had something to do with these awesome rally cars.

    Who knows?!

I'd like to argue that philosophically (not in terms or sales or money) Lancia's rally cars did no good at all to its image.

Being over the sea, it certainly improved the image of Lancia in my eyes!

On topic, the 037 is one of my favourite races cars in terms of aesthetics.

Oh yes they were certainly good for presence in people's mind, but two of the best known Lancias (the Stratos and the Delta HF) aren't very Lancia in my opinion.

They were certainly better than we have know, though.

Yes sure, it is one of the most beautiful race cars ever built.

But above all, the 037 is a triumph of no-nonsense engineering.

It would be fitting to quote here some of Walter Röhrl's words about the 1983 Monte Carlo event:
We had some help fom Fiorio too, he was very good. During practice he asked me what I needed, and I answered "clear roads". So he arranged for lorries to carry salt to the key stages from Italy before the rally to make sure they were clear. Typical Fiorio!
    Talk about no-nonsense tactics!
