Mitsubishi Evo VIII vs. Subaru WRX STi

I think this is the only somewhat fair 'vs.' threads in a while. This, to me, is very close. I used to favour the STi, but now I like the Evo. I think I'll go Evo.

The Sti is a little faster in straightline then the current evo, but the evo has a much more advanced awd system.

Tough choice. I like the STi's bigger engine and superior power and straight line speed, but when it comes down to it, I pick the Evo. Why? Because you have to pay to look stupid in the Evo with that ridiculous spoiler, a pricing scheme I support.

    Both cars have disadvantages:

Evo: Less power and a terrible reputation from Mitsubishi's customer care.
    STI: Severe understeer.

I'd have to drive them both back to back to decide.

evo is only underpowered when comparing teh american versions euro and jdm spec evos and sti have same power output at 280 for the respective base models

the high end of the evo with the current MR FQ400 trumps anything the impreza has in its arsenal and even its younger brother FQ340 has more then the subaru

and yes sti has severe understeer although the lighter spec c model does get rid of most of it, however this is at the cost of removing almost every comfort item and is only a few mods away from being a full fledged race car

I chose the Evo, there's something so bad-ass and mean about it compared to the more kind-hearted Scubey. I think the STI is a better car overall, but my heart has been w/ Ralliart/Mitsubishi for years.

The STi Type-UK has just been released here. It has a further updated Spec C chassis, but with more creature comforts.
    Thanks for all the fish
