C'mon people, who the hell buys a 911 turbo convertible? What's the point?

It is the C4 Cabrio we are talking about. I'll comment that in the 70's and 80's, 911 cabrios were very desirable cars. You are right about the 911 Turbo Cabrio, the Coupe is faster, cheaper and better looking.

To have a really really fast, sweet convertible? I think that's the point, correct me if I'm wrong...

Haha, I know what you mean. Structural rigidity is key, I agree

    Red face Exactly EggNog....

Personally if I wanted a Porsche convertible, I would buy a Boxter S. It looks much better than a 911 with the roof chopped off.

Thats bullshit, you may feel that way but others don't. The 911 Turbo Cabriolet still hits 0-60 in about 4.3 seconds, that may not be as fast as the Coupe, but its still fast.
Fast convertible are favored by the rich people who have the money to buy them.
Why do you think the Ferrari 360 Spyder is a better seller than the 360 coupe?
I personally think the 911 Turbo Cabriolet rocks!
Look at the sweetness of the 911 Turbo below...

it would look better as a coupe...im not a fan of canvas tops...they just look tacky/ugly (reminds me of those old vinal top wannabe convertable caddies) give me a convertable like the lexus, merc, or caddy any day, note: they all have retractable hardtops.

coupes are the only way to go
id go targa if i really felt an open top was necessary
    soft tops are thugly
retractible hard tops are heavy and gimmicky

    4 beautiful cars ....

    1. Porsche 911 Carrera 4
    2. Mercedes-Benz SL500
    3. Cadillac XLR
    4. Jaguar XK8

But if it were a SL55 AMG instead of the SL500 it would have taken top spot in my ranking.
