    Idling problem

The past couple months, my 1991 Ford Ranger XLT's V6 has had an idle around 1750-2000 rpm's. I was wondering if anyone would have an idea why it's doing this, because it used to idle below 1000.

I'm suspecting the engine's receiving more air than it needs when it's idling, and using more gas.

    Matra?

Everybody having idle problems lately, lol. Could be a broken thermostat.

It's idling high at all times?

Before you try anything else, take a screwdriver to the idle speed adjuster. It may have just come loose. Hey, it costs nothing to do

I'll think bout doing that, but for now it's got an inspection in a week or two, so I might just be lazy and let someone else deal with it

yep, it is probably that , your V6 is from 1991 , maybe he's quite tired or needs a tour at the garage

interestingly enough, it only has 64K miles, so it's not even close to breaking down.

I just got the truck back from the shop and they said it was a faulty throttle sensor, and possibly a vacuum leak. They replaced the throttle sensor, and told me to bring it back if it turns out to keep giving me problems.
