What made the 90's XJS an instant Classic?

The 1990 Jaguar XJS drop-top was a classic that still earns its place among the car enthusiast today and was one of the longest running model ever built by Jaguar.

Well for starters, it wasn't instant.. it started in the 70s. For the rest, it's a Jaaaaaaag, and it's a V12. Case closed.

Also, it's debatable how classic it is probably.

I stated that in the article: The XJS line was built from 1975 to 1996 and it replaced the XKE lineup (known as the E-Type) and was built to be more sleek and aerodynamic than the E-Type coupes. As far as being a Classic, that is just my opinion

If it was an instant classic it most probably was due to the fact that the basic design was already 15 years old by then...

Is the XJS much of a classic at all? I don't feel like there's much of a cult for them as there was for the E-Types and the subsequent XK8s.

Don't tell that to the XJS fans, but i see your point compared to the E-Type
