    If my mom did that I would call my friends get some beverages of choice and throw a party, maybe even some ponies.

    Obviously she's a really imcompetent parent. Until I came to this side of the atlantic ocean, I had never heard of these kinds of pathetic situations. Growing up in Europe, everything was always orderly, and it was common courtesy to help your parents. This is just sad.

    My parents did a fine job of raising me, and I don't think you should say that all American families have bad values and can't take care of their kids. There are plenty of them, but not all.

    I have heard of things like this before, I just don't see how it works. If I was the mom I would just good old fashioned ground them or take away something like love to play with.

    Saying something happens in general, doesn't mean that it happens always.
    He just claimed that that kind of happening is more usual there than at Europe. That's not offensive.
