I just bought this manual headlight kit because of another recent purchase... a 914/6 GT project. It's the orange car on the left of my wife's white Targa about to be disassembled for paint. Also, freshly restored intruments for the 356. The 904 combo gauge is particularly cool.

Sweet dude! Are you planning on going as original as possible with the 914 or are you going to hot rod it a bit?

Thanks, it gonna be a screamer! Since it's a genuine 6er, but has the M471 factory flares and some of the GT parts already the plan is to build as accurate a factory GT clone as the budget allows. I'm in the parts accumulation phase, it won't go to the paint shop until my wife's car is done. Since the first factory cars were numbered 1,2,3 doing the graphics in period and numbering this 4 will be pretty cool.

Bought this from a world-famous Porsche restorer that had planned to do exactly that, and he's nearby so at least the moral support is high. Already have some bits for building a 2.2 twinplug, the oil tank and hard lines, the factory 7's & 8's came with the car.
The dude in the middle shot is one of my Euro connections... he's leaning on his genuine GT.

Just for the record, how many FACTORY GTs were there? I have certainly seen more than three, that claim such provenance.
So what you bought were the actuators of the pop-up mechanism? Why not go all the way and put in a 908 engine?

Porsche made about 400 GT "kits" available so the 914/6 could be homologated as a GT, but the factory only produced 32 cars. The 3 Marathon cars were the first, the Sonauto car that won it's class at Lemans was built from a kit. There are several other significant 914/6 GTs that were built by privateers. Joseph Reip's car shown above is one of them... I will edit that post: mea culpa. There were two cars built with the 908 engine, both owned by Porsche. Sure, no problem getting one of those for my project.
A twin-plug 2.2 is accurate and expensive enough, thanks.

I'm just accumulating parts at this point, Pieter... and in this case snapped up something that's nearly impossible to find, even a repro set. Here's a site for some history and images of GT-specific parts. 914-6 GT's Photo Galleries at pbase.com

The ex-Bozanni GT, #914.043.1571... absolutely genuine. Have a bunch of photos of it from when it was last offered for sale at a hefty price, interesting period history though none on track. I understand it's on the market again. My friend had both the Lufthansa GT #914.043.1415 which went to Bruce Canepa, as well as my favorite (regarding history) the Monte Carlo-modified-to ONS Recaro
safety GT #914.143.0140. Some interesting stories about that one. Amazingly, these cars sold in the 1970s for $3500 or so.
Just old racers then, now seriously expensive.

Apologies for the thread drift.

I bought a pushbike.

It's only a cheapy mountain bike, but it'll do me. Gonna have to get used to riding again, I've not been riding since I was in Perth.. about two and a half years ago. Sure, it's just like riding a bike.. only I'm not as fit as I was an I live on top of a hill...

And yes, that's it behind my couch. Storage space is minimal in a no bedoom apartment..
