    Lexus Introduces New Performance Division

Lexus has announced that it will establish a performance brand late next year.

Lexus will bring the “F” to market with the IS-F, equipped with the 5.0-liter V-8 from the LS 600h L. It should put out around 425 horsepower and be priced around $50,000 when it arrives next December.

Hope that this isn't another "joke" from Winding Road

well.. We do know that there will be an IS with 500 hp. I have an odd feeling that it's a joke. It's too radical for a conservative company like Lexus.

edit I was referring to the F-line as a joke.

I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

Same^^^ It might just have a power increase of 10-20 horses, but there's no point in making a gas guzzler V8 with 500hp. Perhaps an IS250T and an IS350 with 325hp?

No, Lexus will probably make the IS as an IS500 instead of an IS-F

    It's LS460 now.

Yes, I do feel it is up to the competition. I like the Lexus very much.

Now lets hope they don't screw up the performance division.

I think they'll do it. AMG, M, and S cars are doing rather well. I'm sure an F-line would be fine.

Aslong as the keep the marketing along the same "BMW without the badge" lines it'll be great.

I hate Lexus, big boring cars with no soul...imo. A performance division would just be copying the S line, M cars and AMG, mabye the Type S Acuras on a lesser extent too...

I don't think it's a joke, there've been talking about it for some time.

You must get some nice Camrys, the Camrys here are a very different animal Lexus.

I don't find it so though. To each his own.

Back to the Canuck, the Type S's are no where close to the performance or sophistication as M or AMG.

I also see little model distinction. They all look nice, but they're all very similar. Look at the headlights between the LS460 and the Camry. Very similar. Ditto for the rear lights.

I would hope they make a more imaginative name. F doesn't sound like anything imposing, but they don't have a name yet do they?

They could fix that by entering a couple of Lexus cars in touring races.
