As usual, much attention is paid...
...to the trivial stuff like...
...the cheap and plasticy feel of the plastic bits....
...or the display graphics of the infotainment system.
Much less noticed are the facts like...
...carbon fibre propshaft or....
....it is the first proper Alfa Romeo in decades.
Yeah this is reassuring initial news.
I do have concerns about the overall ownership experience, and the fact that the project seemed to be rushed.
Cautious optimism ladies and gents!
I hate my car. And the dealers.
However I need a Giulia.
I think this sums it up nicely.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
Visca Catalunya!
The opposite can happen too.
Giulia made be I fall back in love with my car again. I believe that somehow these two are related. Just don't ask how.
Anyway, the end result is the same - I want Giulia.

I'm not really a big Alfa Romeo fan, but I saw a blue Giulia in Italian Carabinieri livery on the internet and that looked so right.
Giulia Quadrifoglio with a right look.

(For some reason the market which most buys manual cars in Europe only gets autos? )
I still think I shouldn't have one. And I still desperately want to have one.
It also reminds me a lot of the Jaguar XE. Not quite 100% polished, but what a sports saloon it is.
Could the Giulia be the new benchmark?
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
Visca Catalunya!
Same as the M5; why would the average American want their sports sedan to have the slushbox from an ordinary family hauler when they could have a sporty manual car?
And why would the average Yurop want the plebian DIY job from a Renault Twingo 0.485 Diesel in their upscale sports saloon when they could have a racing-inspired high-tech gearbox?
It does reek of British incompleteness, as you say, and the styling isn't quite as evocative as the Brera or 159, but goddamn if I don't want one too...
"Kimi, can you improve on your [race] finish?"
"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"
